If you are satisfied that the pasta is cooked pour the water and pasta in a colander which is a bowl with holes so water can drain from the paste. You need to shake the strainer to trap any water was able to escape. Some people recommend rinsing pasta in the pasta to prevent sticking but unless you re a pasta salad to make this step unnecessary.
